Thursday Thought – Thursdays

Okay, I know it's been a while since I did a real "Thursday Thought" post. I wanted to put this up for those who have written me to explain they miss that part of my blog, I will be starting them up again the week after next. The reason I won't be starting next week is because we are going to be doing a week long CTP event and I am hoping to run a daily activity and or testimony posts from that. Pray for us that all goes well as there are a lot of details and plans that will be going into it. Thanks so much.

Jade Dives

Jade is swimming now without her floating bathing suit and loves being in the water. I still stay close to help her when needed but swimming under the water is fast becoming a passion for her. As for diving, well see for yourself.

Young Chuck

Young Chuck, moved to Texas and bought a Donkey from a farmer for $100.00. The farmer agreed to deliver the Donkey the next day. The next day he drove up and said, 'Sorry son, but I have some bad news, the donkey died.'

Chuck replied, 'Well, then just give me my money back.'

The farmer said, 'Can't do that. I went and spent it already.'
Chuck said, 'Ok, then, just bring me the dead donkey.'

The farmer asked, 'What ya gonna do with him?
Chuck said, 'I'm going to raffle him off.'

The farmer said, 'You can't raffle off a dead donkey!'
Chuck said, 'Sure I can Watch me.. I just won't tell anybody he's dead.'

A month later, the farmer met up with Chuck and asked, 'What happened with that dead donkey?'Chuck said, 'I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars a piece and made a profit of $898.00.'

The farmer said, 'Didn't anyone complain?'
Chuck said, 'Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back.'

Chuck now works for the government.

Learning to do hair...

...can be a chanllange for any dad, but I think I am getting the hang of it. What do you think? Okay, okay, I had to bribe one of the moms in the home for the hairdo pictured above. But considering that last summer all I could do was ponytails, I am quite glad that I have graduated to normal braids. With a little more practice I will be doing styles like that above in no time.

A meal...

...I cooked for the girls on OR. There wasn't enough lunch left and the girls asked us to save plates so I threw this together for them. It's turkey cool wraps with cheese and peminto spread.
Asparagus fried in soysauce with puple onions, along with some baby carrots and a couple slices of yellow kiwi.

Wasted Compliments?

Okay so I have a question for you ladies out there that visit this blog.

Do you secretly like the compliments that guys give when they honk or whistle at you while walking down the street?

Okay now to clarify, because I have seen many a post on blogs of woman bashing this kind of compliment and talking to friends who say they can’t stand it when guys do that, I have made it a personal policy of mine not to compliment in that way.

The other day I whistled at one of the family women and she smiled very coyly and I got to thinking that maybe girls don’t dislike it as much as they claim to.

Now, I am not talking about the crude guy on the road verbalizing his disgusting thoughts about you. I am talking about the small honk or the little whistle and the guy keeps on going but was just taking a second to admire God’s creation.

Is there a difference or are all those types of compliments wasted?

HB2Y Simone and Jairo

Simone, I hope and pray you have a great new year. It was nice seeing you briefly and I am thankful for the invitation to stay and party with ya'll even though I wasn't able to. Praying you have a great year.

Jairo, Sorry I missed your birthday, the 14th right? Well I hope you also have a good new year.
I don't have any photos of you and since I missed your birthday party this year, I will post the party clip from the bithday party I had in your home last year that you missed. Enjoy!

Spanish Class

This summer I have been speaking alot more Spanish to the kids and have been doing different activities with them to help them pick up the language. One of the things we are doing is reading through the LOG book 1. I read each persons part in Spanish and then translate it for the kids to English so they know what it is saying. Adrian is picking up quite a bit since he reads the words along with me and gets really excited when he can figure out what it's saying before I translate it for him. Jade is a bit more bored with it since she can't read most of the words but she is very patient and sits there each time we do our reading. I am so proud of them both, they are learning slowly but surely.

Slumber

I had a very busy week and was totally exhausted last night at the end of parent day. While putting the kids to bed I also fell asleep oh maybe around 9 pm. Today I was on rest day and I didn't even hear the kids get up or their caretakers for the day come and get them. I woke up at 1 pm today after 16 hrs of sleep. I can't even remember when the last time was that I slept that much straight thru, but I sure needed it and am so thankful I got it as I feel much better to start my week.

Night Swim

Being that I have a pool outside my room I take advantage of it every chance I get, swimming at night has become an almost daily ritual. Doesn't matter if it hot or cold out the water tempature ranges between 76 -80 degrees so it's pretty much always the same.

The other night at about 1 a.m. I was swimming shortly after it rained and the air outside was quite cool and brisk thus causing water vapor to rise from the pool, the moonlight started to break through the clouds and light from the street lamps were seeping through the trees illuminating the vapor giving the souroundings an almost unreal and mystical feel. It was so refreshing and relaxing. I wish I had a camera like Ambie's so that I could have captured what I was seeing.

7 Degrees

7 Degrees of Blonde

FIRST DEGREE
A married couple were asleep when the phone rang at 2 in the morning. The very blonde wife picked up the phone, listened a moment and said 'How should I know, that's 200 miles from here!' and hung up.

The husband said, 'Who was that?'

The wife answered, 'I don't know, some woman wanting to know if the coast is clear.'

SECOND DEGREE
Two blondes are walking down the street. One notices a compact on the sidewalk and leans down to pick it up. She opens it, looks in the mirror and says, 'Hmm, this person looks familiar.'

The second blonde says, 'Here, let me see!'

So, the first blonde hands her the compact.

The second blonde looks in the mirror and says, 'You dummy, it's me!'

THIRD DEGREE
A blonde suspects her boyfriend of cheating on her, so she goes out and buys a gun. She goes to his apartment unexpectedly and when she opens the door she finds him in the arms of a redhead. Well, the blonde is really angry. She opens her purse to take out the gun, and as she does so, she is overcome with grief. She takes the gun and puts it to her head.

The boyfriend yells, 'No, honey, don't do it!!!'

The blonde replies, 'Be Quiet, you're next!'

FOURTH DEGREE
A blonde was bragging about her knowledge of state capitals. She proudly says, 'Go ahead, ask me, .. I know 'em all.'

A friend says, 'OK, what's the capital of Wisconsin?'

The blonde replies, 'Oh, that's easy . It’s W.'

FIFTH DEGREE
Q: What did the blonde ask her doctor when he told her she was pregnant?
A: 'Is it mine?'

SIXTH DEGREE
Lisa, a blonde in her fourth year as a UCLA Freshman, sat in her US Government class. The professor asked Lisa if she knew what Roe vs. Wade was about. Bambi pondered the question; then, finally, said, 'That was the decision George Washington had to make before he crossed the Delaware.'

SEVENTH DEGREE
Returning home from work, a blonde was shocked to find her house ransacked and burglarized. She telephoned the police at once and reported the crime. The police dispatcher broadcast the call on the radio, and a K-9 unit, patrolling nearby, was the first to respond.

As the K-9 officer approached the house with his dog on a leash, the blonde ran out on the porch, shuddered at the sight of the cop and his dog, then sat down on the steps. Putting her face in her hands, she moaned, 'I come home to find all my possessions stolen. I call the police for help, and what do they do? They send me a BLIND policeman!

Thursday Thought – Memories Revisited

Memories are such an interesting thing, especially in the way that they are remembered. Each person involved in a situation remembers things differently, for example:

I recently posted about tattoos and told a teenage story about when I wanted to get one, the other participant in my story was my Mom, to which she sent me an email with how she remembered it. The excerpt follows,

I thought it strange you and I both remember the tattoo incident, but remember it a bit different. I didn't tell you you had to be Jesus, I simple told you that you could tattoo your thigh "Lord of Lord and King of Kings" to which you said you weren't Jesus. Funny how time changes things and memories for us all isn't it?

So this got me thinking about memories. Although both retelling's were basically the same some things were different. This got me thinking and wondering about how many situations in life are like this. The sad part is, although this story and example I used here are harmless, lot's of memories aren't. Like marriage problems or memories of things happening to us as children.

How many lives have been broken based on persecutions resulting from new books written based on childhood memories that happened some 20-30 years back? How many people have been persecuted for their faith because someone else remembered or took something wrong in the retelling of an incident? How many marriages have been broken up by faulty memories of the way things actually happened?

I guess that's why it's so important to leave the past where it is and make new experiences each day and live each day to it's fullest.

And Love! Because with love humility and prayer all things are solved and each experience can be a good one. Treasure the memories of good things in life and the bad things that happen will not have room to be remembered.

Area Fellowship

The kids and I went to an area fellowship today. The first one I have been to in Mexico City in over 3 1/2 years. It was great seeing my friends and being able to fellowship some. It was a long hard day in total though. It took 3 hours for us to get through Mexico city on the way there and nearly 5 to get home. By the time we did get home at nearly 11pm both the kids were running fevers and complaining of body aches. Fever's had been going around in the home the week before so it caught up to the kids. Thanks for your prayers for them.

(Update on July 3rd: The kids are both fine now with no fever since yesterday afternoon. Thanks for all your prayers.)
