A Bite of History

Here in Boca del Rio they hold the world record for the longest fish fillet. It's a yearly tradition to break it, this years fillet was 220 meters long. I took the kids down to see it and to sample the fillet, considering it's size I was amazed at how good it actually tasted.

Agnes, you are my kid’s favorite artist and I would imagine lots of other kids are in that group. You have amazing gifts and talents and in the five years I have known you, I have seen you pour out constantly even to your own hurt to do the Lord’s will and serve the children in the Family. You are a sample to me.

Thanks also for all the prayers and encouragement for me over the years. I know it was prayers like yours that helped make me who I am today. You and Andrew are dear friends.

Friday the 13th Accident

So I was talking to Nathan the other day and asking him what he thought of his birthday falling on Friday the 13th, "I don't believe in it and nothing bad is going to happen" he told me after joking that maybe he shouldn't go out that day. I concluded the same, "that nothing bad will happen."

Little did I know what was in store for me. I was out all morning doing pickups and had the truck loaded full with provisioning, I was on my way home and sitting at a red light when I heard a collision behind me and had just looked at my driver side mirror in time to see a taxi careening towards me. There was no time to react or place to go so he ran right into me. The taxi that hit me was propelled into the back of my truck after being hit by a taxi behind him whose brakes failed. TTL that in all 3 vehicles that were involved no one was injured...only a lot of twisted steel and crumpled fiberglass.

My poor truck! The good news is that since the other guy was at fault they are paying for it. I was sure glad I had my insurance as they arrived quickly and helped sort out the mess.

I miss working with you and the crazy stories we would tell, hanging out and just shooting the breeze. There’s still so much we need to do, thank God we have lots of years ahead of us still to come. But really man, we should hook up sometime.

Thursday Thought – Brain Freeze

I have heard people all my life talk about brain freeze, you know that headache you get in your forehead from eating ice cream or something cold! I have had many different people describe the feeling and often with dramatic and descriptive explanations of pain.

Well I have never to my recollection experienced brain freeze.

I know…I know…I am weird…

…Or at least I used to think I was. Everyone I have ever talked to about it was amazed that I didn’t know what it felt like. I had imagined the pain people described and have understood the concept and even attempted on different occasions to force a brain freeze. I am sure Haven could tell a story or two about that…lol.

Anyways, I was talking about it with someone the other day so thought I would look it up and do some research on it. It turns out only about 30% of people experience it…so I guess I am not so weird after all.

Happy Birthday Andrew!!! I hope you having fun there at the PEP. We had a party for your birthday tonight…it was pretty fun. Just kidding, but we should throw one when you get back. Hope this year will be your best yet.

Home

The kids and I arrived safely home tonight and first stop was the beach, yes it was nice and the kids had fun. After they were tucked in bed I headed back out to the beach for a late night swim with some of the others here...it's so good to be home.

Thanks for all your prayers for our travels. We had a two day delay at the border due to having an outdated paper for the truck. So we spent some time with the home in Brownsville and saw some friends.

Thanks Tom, Donna, Michelle and home for making our wait there a pleasant one, love you guys lots.

07-07-07

Today the kids and I are traveling, heading down to Mexico. Please pray for our border crossing that everything goes smoothly.

Being today’s date is 07-07-07 I think it’s a good day to travel.

Am I superstitious? NO! But I was thinking about that date yesterday and late last night ran across this blog post about it which I found interesting, click here to read it!

Fireworks

On the 4th due to having gone to the circus and dinner out it was too late to catch any firework shows. So the Lord blessed the children with one on the 5th, in Corpus visiting my Dad. It was a nice show shot over the beach with the fireworks reflecting in the water….super cool! Here’s a video clip of it!

Circus on the 4th of July

Yesterday on the 4th of July Haven, the kids and I with Aunt Wendy (Haven’s Aunt) went to Barnum and Baileys Greatest show on Earth circus. Hmmm????? I don’t know if I would say it is or not…but we did have fun so here’s some photos and a video clip. The quality is not great as we were seated quite far from the ring.







After the circus we were all hungry so we had dinner at The Red Lobster. Haven enjoyed this huge drink...Haven what was it called? I forgot...

Happy 4th of July

Today is the 4th of July, seems it’s a pretty famous day and any one who watches movies thinks they know why.

Well I am here to tell you that it’s famous because it’s Dale’s birthday. Happy birthday dude!!!

Wedding Food

Wedding Bells Are Ringing

Weddings are always fun and a sure way to a good meal, so when Haven’s brother Jeremy invited me to his wedding on June 30th I jumped at the chance. Actually the invite came a year ago so it was nice that the wedding happened while I was in town. It was a nice ceremony and a good time with good food. I will just post some photos here for your enjoyment and let them tell the story
