Laugher and Joy

The kids were so happy when I arrived around dinner. It was a long day for them waiting for me to get there after not having seen them for a couple months. Jade wouldn’t let me go; she hugged me for about 10 minutes, I didn’t mind I didn’t want to let her go either. We had a great evening and Adrian got me all caught up on the past few months. Saturday is Jade’s birthday, she’s turning three. We are having her party on Sunday and I will post about it then. Take care and thanks for reading.

Arrived

Thanks for all you’re prayers for the trip I sure felt them. We arrived safely, with only a small dent added to the back bumper where some guy decided to leave his mark, TYJ for Your protection. The border crossing went well even though they searched our vehicle twice. I found it very amusing and the guards got more and more irritated the longer they searched without finding anything. TTL!

Visa Trip

In a few hours I will set out on my visa trip. I am leaving at 2 am since It’s 750 miles (1200 km) to the border, then another 250 (400 km) to the city of my destination, where my kids are eagerly waiting my arrival. It’s going to be a very long good day.

Jade is turning three on Saturday, so I am glad that I will be making it in time for that. I will take lots of pics and keep you all updated.

Please pray for my travels, for safety and protection as well as the border crossing. See ya’ll in a bit.

Thanksgiving

I wasn’t sure if I would post about Thanksgiving being as it is a predominantly North American holiday. Since I am living in Mexico and most of my readers on this blog are outside of NA I thought that I wouldn’t. But I just had to.

I have heard discussions along the lines of how it’s a pointless holiday since the idea that most people have of it is that it’s only about eating. But for me it is so much more.

Yes, the first Thanksgiving, was very different as to the commercial and present day Thanksgivings. But one thing has stayed the same. The reason for the Thanksgiving was to thank God for the harvest and his bountiful supply.

Actually when looking it up online yesterday I was surprised to see just how many countries (esp. in Europe) observe some kind of celebration and or days of festivities to celebrate the harvest.

It is also to celebrate friends and family, teamwork and unity. As without the Indians helping and teaching the Pilgrims there would not have been a harvest to rejoice over. So in relating it in that way to our lifestyle in The Family, Thanksgiving will never be to me a pointless holiday.

And there is so much to be thankful for besides our food, but even if that’s the only reason, what wrong with that?

I for one have so much to be thankful for, that even though I was not able to celebrate Thanksgiving Day the way I was brought up to, does not change the way I am in my heart and did not take from me my thanks to the Lord for all the wonderful things He is doing in my life.

So to all of you who read this, Happy Thanksgiving, yesterday, today and everyday!

Dedicated to You...My Friend

And I, never thought I’d feel this way,
And as far as I’m concerned,
I’m glad I got the chance to say,
That I do believe I love you.

And if, I should ever go away,
Well then close your eyes and try,
To feel the way we do today,
And if you can, remember:

Keep smiling, keep shining,
Knowing you can always count on me,
For sure, that’s what friends are for.
For good times and bad times,
I’ll be on your side forever more
That’s what friends are for.

Well, you came and opened me
And now there’s so much more I see,
And so by the way, I thank you.
And then, for the times when we’re apart:
Well then close your eyes and know
The words are coming from my heart,
And then, if you can, remember:

Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me
For sure, that’s what friends are for.
In good times and bad times,
I’ll be on your side forever more.
That’s what friends are for.

Winter

Winter is fast approaching, and while many of my friends are starting to post pictures of snow, them standing in big warm coats, or playing board games while drinking warm drinks huddled near a fireplace, I give you my “Winter Wonderland."

Much like everywhere the air is changing here, which to us means that we only need to shower and change our shirts 2-3 times a day instead of a dozen times. I’m sure our washing machine appreciates the break.

Winds are coming from the north bringing us cooler weather. Winter storms are called “Nortes” instead of blizzards or cold fronts. And instead of bringing snow or sleet, they bring rain, great waves, coconuts and sand, lots of sand. Winds are so fierce at times it’s like natural sand blasting. I try to park on the protected side of our house.

Would I trade my tropical winter for the more traditional winter wonderland? Not this year!

Triggered Memories

It always amazes me what triggers our memories, how looking at something can take you back 20+ years to a time when thoughts were filled with innocence and ignorance.

When I was eight I had a poster collection; most of the kids in my area did. This was before the poster books, so when they would arrive at the home we would all scramble to get our very own. My dad worked the PPC for our area and would always manage to get his hands on the ones I missed or the ones our home didn’t order. So I had a sizable collection. This here was my favorite.

I had no idea what it said but I loved the picture, it looked so full of action and excitement. I remember thinking, that I liked how the man in the foreground was so muscular, he looked so strong. Since I was a skinny kid, I figured it must be because he was dark skinned, it made me want to be dark so I could be strong. LOL! Oh, how we learn and grow.

So I saw this poster on the GP site the other day and I couldn’t remember the last time I had seen it, it was so long ago. But I definitely remembered the first. Much like the memories surrounding this poster, I can remember the way many things in my life began, but can’t remember how they ended.

Jesus, Thank you for the memories I have!

“Cuidado!”

“Cuidado!” Is all I heard her say, and I turned just in time to smack my head on an awning today while at the market. And with a freshly shaved head it left a nice cut that is not easily hid. TTL it is at the very top on my head so you need to be pretty tall to see it when I am not sitting.

It was the shop of the lady that helps us with chicken each week; this particular lady really loved Adrian so we have become good friends. I was approaching her shop from a direction that I normally don't come from and so was not really paying attention to my environment.

Then at the stall across the way from her I spied a woman, a true beauty, a pure vision of delight to the eyes, a woman that causes you to do several double takes whether you intend to or not..

Just as I was smiling at her and trying to give her a look that said “I approve!!” is when it all happened.

Every one thought it was great, the contact and their family (about 8 people) and all the people from the pretty ladies stall had a great laugh. Always aiming to get people to laugh I didn’t mind. Esp. since the woman seemed very flattered to have caused such a mishap. The contact went out of her way to dress my “wound” while we all talked about how it was the best action they have had in a few days.

“The Gringo smacked his head!” LOL!

Okay so when discussing it at home and retelling the store I started think, “What’s worse?” to smack your head while obviously checking out a woman? Or to stop and look at her and then proceed walking when your done?

I concluded, it’s rude to stare and possibly embarrass the “vision from heaven” as opposed to getting favorable attention from her due to my moment of clumsiness!

Pleasures

It’s easy for me to find things on a daily basis that I take pleasure in. The most common are a good jog on the beach, a decent meal, smiles on people’s faces, a good chat with a friend and Word time.

Take a combination of any of these things and it’s made my day, or week depending on the mixture.

The other day after a morning jog and seeing a few smiles on the faces of those whom I live with, I settled in for Word time before staring out on everything I had to do that day, one of my good friends sent me an instant message. I wanted to talk but needed my Word time, so after explaining this to her she asked what I was reading. It turns out we had just gotten the same GN and were both getting ready to read it, with a 14 hour time difference.

She suggested we have Word time together over a voice chat, I told her I would love to but my mic was broken. She then offered to read to me and did, the whole GN!

Reading the Word is like having cool waters rushing over your soul, cleansing and refreshing you, and there’s nothing like bathing in it with a friend.

Thank you for the combination of pleasures that made my month!

Site Changes

I have updated my link list with more friends.

Tracy and Joan, are both great people. I don’t know either of them very well but every interaction I have ever had with them has been great and so family style. Has made me want to get know them better.

Marie, has a wonderful work and is involved in some cool CTP’s in her home. She has a great blog with wholesome post. It’s worth checking out her archives. Though we have never met in person it has been easy getting to know her via email and chat.

The Family Blog Community is a great resource of Family blogs. It was up for awhile and was recently re-launched after receiving a new makeover!

And I have added a lunar calculator on my side bar for me to know when I need to make time in my schedule for being the listening ear to my friends who are Cancers. (Just kidding, I always have time for a friend!)

Happy Birthday, Haven!

There is so much that could be said about Haven and how amazing and talented and gifted she is. But I am here to say the one thing in the world that only I am qualified to say:
She is the most amazing, caring, loving, giving and sacrificial mother any father could ever dream to have for his kids. I have the most blessed children in the world.

To all my friends and readers,

I was just over at her blog and she wants prophecies for her birthday. So if you know her or only know of her and would like to, please take a moment to send her something. I know it will help to make her year AWESOMEISIMO.

The New Guys Heartcry!

The Room

In the Room you’re never alone
Lots of people are with you
You live in a family Home
Personal privacy is a thing of the past
Who cares any way unity will last
The room has no more space
With a “Please knock!” on the door
I gotta get my P&P by 4:00
“Who wants to go out” they say
“Winning souls that will last
We are getting low on funds anyway
And we know you’ll have a blast”
Come on it’s your turn now
Go ahead and sweep the floor
Put away your laundry
Or on your rest day you’ll have moooooore

(New guys singing)
But I want to see, I want to feel
I heard the wind blowin',
Don't tell me it isn't real
I'll climb out the window
If you won't open the door
I'll do anything
I know there's got to be more
There's got to be more

Hey there new guy
Who just arrived today
Don't fret yourself about
Where your gunna’ stay
Well find you some room
Maybe on the floor
Our quadruple bunk just broke
We don't have any more
As we build your bed
Let’s listen to the new CD
It’s Vas’ greatest
He can scream in harmonyyyyyyy

(Paraphrased by Jesse O'Connor)
